Robinson Cano and the Mariners congratulate the Seahawks on Super Bowl win

Big League Stew

Sorry, Robinson Cano. You're not the most important addition to the Seattle sports landscape in 2014. That honor now goes to the Seattle Seahawks' Super Bowl trophy, which they were awarded after a 43-8 thumping of the Denver Broncos.

The Seattle Mariners have hitched their wagon to the Seahawks in the past few weeks, so of course they were quick to join in the super celebration. That included Cano, who sent this out via Twitter a few minutes after the game ended.

Pretty ho-hum. Anybody looking for Cano to make a declaration about the Mariners bringing two trophies to Seattle in a year didn't get it. He's smarter than that. Felix Hernandez sent out the customary congrats too.

The Mariners official Twitter account, meanwhile, got cutesy in that way team accounts are known to these days:

Mariners' pitchers and catcher report for spring training on Feb. 12. And they'll have their work cut out for them in the competitive AL West. That doesn't matter at the moment, though, because Seattle is at the top of the sports world.
