Motown playlist: Tigers players and their entrance music (Video)

Hardly anybody in Major League Baseball simply takes the field to "Lady of Spain" played on the ballpark's Hammond organ anymore. As anyone who attends a game these days realizes, contemporary ballpark musical accoutrement is much more varied, if not sophisticated. And, as the Detroit Free Press tells us, certain members of the Detroit Tigers take the field or to the batter's box with different tunes. Some are rock, some are hip hop, some are R&B. Some are country & western (both kinds!). None are One Direction.

Right-hander Anibal Sanchez, Detroit's starting pitcher for Game 3, comes to the mound to LMFAO's "Party Rock Anthem" (which might be as obnoxious as any of the standards by One Direction). But wait ... there's more! (Be warned: Some of these songs contain what your grandmother would call "filthy language!")

1. Austin Jackson, CF: "Ambition" by Wale

Great choice for a player whose career is on the rise.

* * *

2. Quintin Berry, LF: "Hypnotize" by Notorious B.I.G.

A classic, even an "oldie" (or "dusty"). Skee-Lo would be more appropriate, though.

* * *

3. Miguel Cabrera, 3B: "Mercy" by Kanye West

You kiss Taylor Swift with that mouth? Yikes.

* * *

4. Prince Fielder, 1B: "Cartoon & Cereal" by Kendrick Lamar featuring Gunplay (as of opening day)

You can just picture Fielder sitting there, eating cereal, watching cartoons, listening to this song.

* * *

5. Delmon Young, DH: "King of Diamonds" by Rick Ross (as of opening day)

* * *

6. Andy Dirks, RF: "Get Off On The Pain" by Gary Allan

It's like if John Cougar Mellencamp went a little more country.

* * *

7. Jhonny Peralta, SS: "Danza Kudaro" by Don Omar

Not about Tony Danza, unfortunately. But a sweet tune.

* * *

8. Alex Avila, C: "I Got Mine" by the Black Keys

The last rock band in America.

* * *

9. Omar Infante, 2B: "Te Dijeron" ("You Said") by Plan B

This is super-catchy. Might go over to iTunes and download this for $0.99.

• Don Kelly, UT: "Use Somebody" by Kings of Leon

If Jim Leyland likes to use somebody anywhere, it's Don Kelly.

• Gerald Laird, C: "Buzzin" by Mann featuring 50 Cent

• Ramon Santiago, IF: "Pause" by Pitbull

• Rock Porcello, RHP: "This Life" the "Sons of Anarchy" theme by Curtis Stigers and the Forest Rangers

• Justin Verlander, RHP: "Till I Collapse" by Eminem with Nate Dogg

He'll throw 175 pitches in his next start.

• Phil Coke, LHP: "Burn It To The Ground" by Nickelback

Are you kidding us, Phil Coke? Nickelback?!

• Jose Valverde, RHP: "The End of the Line" by Metallica

He might have reached it.

(And don't ever play "Lady of Spain" again!)
