Mike Trout orders 36 oz steak to celebrate $144.5 million extension

To the victor goes the spoils and to the recipient the of largest pre-arbitration contract in baseball history goes the largest steak man can find.

Indeed, Mike Trout knows how to celebrate.

To recap what may go down as the greatest 24-hour (or thereabouts) stretch in Trout's life:

• Late Friday night, Trout comes to terms on a six-year, $144.5 million contract with the Los Angeles Angels.

• On Saturday afternoon, Trout gets the royal treatment in Anaheim as his press conference was hosted outside Angel Stadium with teammates and fans in attendance prior to their spring finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

• On the field, Trout celebrated the new contract with a second inning home run off Dan Haren.

• Trout and teammate Garrett Richards order 36 oz. steaks. No word on how much steak was consumed, but eating a third would be an accomplishment on its own.

The Angels open up their season Monday night against Felix Hernandez and the Seattle Mariners, who come in with a seven-game winning streak in openers. If the Angels can snap that streak, celebratory steaks are on Trout once again.
