We've all become accustomed to baseball teams celebrating their collective success by popping the champagne bottles open in the clubhouse and going a little crazy. Now it appears that same type of celebration may be a new tradition for individual success as well.
Or maybe not. But if Detroit Tigers right-hander Max Scherzer, who was named the American League's Cy Young award winner on Wednesday, has anything to say about it, it may soon become a new tradition.

It's safe to say his celebration is off to a good start, though as Mike Axisa of Eye on Baseball points out, it's a little surprising Scherzer wasn't already well stocked in anticipation of his selection. That said, it is better form to act as though the selection was anything but a lock. And beyond that, it's actually a good idea to not assume anything when it comes to baseball's postseason awards.
Anyway, regardless of whether or not any of that applied in his decision to wait, the party is most definitely on now. There's a pretty decent chance more pictures will follow as it gets rolling into the late evening hours, so definitely get that popcorn ready.
