Mark Wahlberg on Jacoby Ellsbury — ’We got the ring already, let him get his money’

Big League Stew

Famous actor/Red Sox fan/Funky Bunch leader Mark Wahlberg has no hard feelings about Jacoby Ellsbury taking $153 million from the New York Yankees and departing from the Boston Red Sox.

TMZ asked the man who played Dirk Diggler about the Ellsbury deal and Wahlberg shrugged it off, since the Red Sox already won the more important prize.

"We got the ring already, let him get his money ... Johnny Damon did it, it is what it is ... I'm very happy for him, he's a great guy."

That reaction might seem somewhat surprising considering how hard some in Boston are taking the news, and how dedicated the Wahlberg clan is to their Boston sports.

But let's remember this is Marky Mark we're talking about — a guy who used is older brother's boy band fame to launch an unfortunate rap career, then undressed for Calvin Klein's money. We doubt he's going to criticize anybody's cash grab.

Good to know Ellsbury gets the ol' "Good Vibrations" seal of approval on the deal. Though that certainly doesn't extend to all of the Red Sox. Marky Mark wants to yell "come on, swing it" at one Red Sock in particular for years to come.

"As long as they didn't take Pedroia."

Pedroia in pinstripes? That would make many people in Boston cry. Not just 4-year-olds.
