Josh Reddick loses ‘beard-off,’ has his face shaved by WWE’s Daniel Bryan

Back in March, Oakland Athletics outfielder Josh Reddick accepted a "beard-off" challenge from World Wrestling Entertainment star Daniel Bryan. It was right up Reddick's alley, since he's the shaggy sort and he's a big pro wrestling fan. So big that Reddick wears wrestling gear and uses pro wrestlers' entrance music as his at-bat songs.

The Reddick/Bryan beard-off reached it hairy conclusion this week, as Reddick attended a WWE "Smackdown" taping and came face-to-face with Bryan, whom fans had voted as the winner of the challenge and thus "King of the Beards."

Out came the clippers. Away went the whiskers. It wasn't as classy as a Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake head-shaving, but really, what is? Reddick shared his new look with his Twitter followers Wednesday.

Now, the question is whether Reddick will starting growing the beard again for next season. He has plenty of time, but after hitting .226 last season with 20 fewer homers than 2012, it might be time for a change.

As for losing the beard-off? Reddick can take solace in the fact that he doesn't have two first names like Daniel Bryan.
