FORT MYERS, Fla. — My arrival at the City of Palms Park on Thursday morning found Josh Beckett(notes) in a forgiving and gift-giving mood. Before stretching with his Boston Red Sox teammates, Josh Beckett trotted across the field and presented coaching assistant Ino Guerrero with his very own construction worker's vest. As you might remember, it was Guerrero who struck a batting practice ball on Monday that hit Beckett in the head and sent the pitcher to the hospital with a mild concussion.
But all's well that ends well, apparently. Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe reports that Beckett has been cleared to play and will throw a bullpen session on Friday. He's expected to get his second start of the spring on Tuesday.
One weird thing, though: While Beckett was wearing a white T-shirt that said "Can't hit me" when he took the field, should he have been the one wearing the bright and reflective clothing?
