Back in Chicago for a self-described mini-vacation of shopping and eating, Lou Piniella stopped by a North Side elementary school on Thursday as part of his popular "Bring Lou to School" contest. But if Sweet Lou thought such a plan would ease him into the tough questions that surely await him around town this weekend, he was wrong, as evidenced by the first question fired toward him by a l'il paste-eater.
From around the :55 mark of the above video:
Kid: "Do you think Soriano should be the ... leadoff batter next season?"
Piniella: "I think you've been talking to the media."
The schoolkids later went onto ask Piniella why most of them are taller than his starting shortstop and why their school nurse would likely bail out of the batter's box fewer times than Kosuke Fukudome.
Despite the grilling, Piniella said he enjoyed his time at the school, especially when the advanced math class showed him a way the team could afford to trade for Jake Peavy.
