David Lough enters the 'catch of the year' conversation with impressive flying grab

Certainly, it's far too early to call anything in MLB the "catch of the year," but it's never too early to add another to the list of contenders. So David Lough, you've earned a spot.

The Baltimore Orioles outfielder took flight Sunday and improbably grabbed what looked a gapper off the bat of Jarrod Dyson of the Kansas City Royals. Alcides Escobar, who was on first base, sure didn't think Lough had a chance, as he was already around second by the time the cameras caught him. Way to get high, Mr. Lough — and against the team that traded him this past offseason too.

Lough's catch reminds us of a soaring Ben Revere catch from 2013. Lough's maybe isn't quite as good as Revere's, which was last season's best catch by many accounts. Revere has already put himself on the 2014 catch of the year list too, with a full-extension diving grab earlier this month. Was Lough's catch better? Here's Revere's 2014 grab. It's all subjective, so tell us what you think?

We can't end this without also giving a shout-out to Will Venable of the San Diego Padres, who made a nice diving catch Sunday too. It's not quite as impressive as the first two here, but it's a fine catch just the same, and if you like watching outfielders amaze, then you'll want to see this one.
