Create-a-Caption: Joe Nathan as Tony Romo
Our pals at Shutdown Corner have the full story, but Texas Rangers closer Joe Nathan pulled the opposite of an Aaron Rodgers and paid off a weekend football bet by donning Tony Romo's full uniform and pads at Rangers Ballpark on Tuesday. The stunt was the result of a lost wager that Nathan placed with bullpen mate Mike Adams — a huge Cowboys fan — on the outcome of last Wednesday's game against Nathan's team, the New York Giants.
"It feels just like I thought it would — absolutely terrible," Nathan said of wearing the uniform during batting practice and a five-minute autograph session.
Nathan has been great in his bounce-back season, saving 32 games with a 2.40 ERA for the AL West-leading Rangers. It's probably good, however, that he get a taste of being the city's whipping boy lest he even think about blowing a save in the upcoming postseason.
So have at it, amateur Internet copy editors of the world. How should this caption read?
