ARLINGTON, Texas — When I snapped the above photo of San Francisco Giants first baseman Aubrey Huff(notes), I assumed that his eyes were all puffy and red from all the champagne and Budweiser that his teammates were aiming at his head.
But while that alcohol wasn't helping matters, Huff came clean about the emotional moment he was having:
"I've already cried ... it's already out," Huff admitted. "I'll probably do it again. I'll break down later on, too. What a grind it's been my whole career. This organization gave me a chance when no one else would."
It's images like that one that make every champagne party at the end of each World Series a special one. From the it-finally-happened vets like the 33-year-old Huff to the barely-old-enough-to-drink babes like Buster Posey(notes) and Madison Bumgarner(notes), title time hits every player differently. It's a fun thing to be able to witness every fall.
For a look at those moments, there are a few shots from my trusty point-and-shoot in the Flickr slideshow above. If you're the moving-picture sort, click below for about a minute of unedited footage from the start of the champagne celebration in Texas.
