Carl Crawford belly flops into second base (video)

Just remember: These major leaguers are professionals. The Elite. The best of the best.

The worst part: The play didn't even count; Carl Crawford was running with the pitch but, with the batter fouling it off, everyone had to re-set with a 1-1 count. Just dust yourself off and check that chin for a raspberry, Crawford.

In unrelated but not altogether surprising news, the Los Angeles Dodgers kept him out of the lineup Thursday for Day 2 of the Cactus League season because of tightness in his quadriceps. Not sure which one, left or right. Crawford, who has a recent history of missing games due to injuries big and small, says in the Los Angeles Times that the quad is no big deal:

Crawford said his felt the discomfort Wednesday when he scored from first base on a double by Yasiel Puig.

Crawford downplayed the severity of the injury.

“It’s just a little tightness,” he said. “Pretty sure I’ll be back out there tomorrow.”

And sliding, hopefully.
