He's OK, folks! C.J. Wilson is, anyway.
Wilson, a left-hander and Twitter laureate, said he was OK after being struck on the left side of his head by a comebacker while throwing live batting practice against his Los Angeles Angels teammates Tuesday. MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez relays that Angels public relations says that Wilson left the field under his own power and was given precautionary tests. Wilson later added some comments on Twitter to let everyone know he was doing fine:
Everything is fine, except that pitch I threw. Shoulda caught it. Thanks for the #PMA - lesson is to not pitch to contact! Haha— C.J. Wilson (@str8edgeracer) February 25, 2014
Wilson considered replying to fans by purposely misspelling words, but decided against it.
UPDATE: Wilson says he has checked out concussion free.
Hamilton has a strained calf and was using crutches in the Angels clubhouse. He will be reevaluated in 4-5 days and does not expect to be delayed long enough to miss opening day.
Hamilton played in 151 games in 2013 for the Angels after signing a $133 million contract, but came into camp muscled up in order to have more power this season. His home runs dropped from 43 to 21 in '13.
