Texas sophomore drills improbable over-the-head 3-pointer

Prep Rally

Now, this is how you run a full-court press.

We're, what, a few weeks into the prep basketball season, and we already have two legitimate contenders for Shot of the Year. Last week, Vinton (Va.) William Byrd High senior Marvey’o Otey connected on an implausible behind-the-back prayer to turn what appeared to be a sure turnover into one of the greatest shots you'll ever see.

And over the weekend, Cedar Park (Texas) Vista Ridge High sophomore Jeremy Geist gave Otey a run for his money, deflecting a Conroe (Texas) High pass on the press, hustling to snatch the ball before it sailed out of bounds and nailing a backwards over-the-head heave for a 3-pointer that you really have to see to believe (h/t MaxPreps).

Sadly, Vista Ridge lost the game, 53-41, and fell to 8-7 on the season, but even if the Rangers fail to make the playoffs, at least their highlight reel will be the stuff of legend.

However, I still contend this kid's no-look buzzer-beating 3-pointer is the Shot of 2013.
