A well produced high school taunt rap video is quietly but rapidly gaining viral traction on the Internet, in part because of the involvement of two high-profile football players for the school unleashing the aforementioned verbal attack.
The rap you see above was recorded by RivalsHigh 100 No. 21-ranked Loganville (Ga.) Grayson High students prior to the school's annual rivalry game against defending state champ Snellville (Ga.) Brookwood High. More aggressively, the rap was recorded AT Brookwood itself -- or at least at the school's most notable signage points (the interior shots were all filmed at Grayson) -- with the Grayson rappers roaming the halls and sitting on top of the school's sign while delivering clean but pointed lyrics.
"Brookwood, where you at. Brookwood where you at. We don't even see you tell me are you even on the map?"
"Welcome to a world where the Rams eat horses. … If anything you're number two, check your pencil."
The highlight of the video may come in cameo appearances by Grayson senior quarterback Nick Schuessler -- the rappers claim Brookwood players ask for his autograph -- and superstar Class of 2013 recruit Robert Nkemdiche, who gets dropped in another strong line: "If you were 6-foot-7 you might reach Nkemdiche's collar."
With nearly 30,000 views in three days -- all without any significant publicity whatsoever -- the rap is well on its way to emerging as a legitimate underground phenomenon in Georgia, if not far beyond there as well. And outside of the Grayson rappers' ability to get inside their rivals' school to record a rap, there's little anyone could be upset about in the video; the lyrics are as clean as you'll ever hear, though that hardly means they aren't clever.
Regardless of what response the track elicits from Brookwood, it's sure to raise the stakes on a Halloween-weekend game when Grayson could be playing to move into the outer ranks of national title contention and Brookwood may be playing to solidify its playoff standing.
As if that game needed more attention and significance, well, now it has it.
