The bank is open for star Ohio PG Jack Gibbs on game-winning 3 from midcourtCameron SmithPrep RallyDecember 18, 2012In an age of near universal round-the-clock ATM access and online banking, in a sense the bank is always open. On Saturday a top point guard proved that it's always open for final shots as well.As noted by USA Today, Westerville (Ohio) North point guard Jack Gibbs, a budding senior point guard who holds offers from a variety of mid-major programs including Creighton, delivered a remarkable mid-court game-winner in stride, handing Westerville North a 70-69 victory against Cleveland (Ohio) Villa Angela-St. Joseph School on Saturday. The game-winner came on a deep three ball that Gibbs released in open rhythm as he came down the court with time expiring.Luckily for Gibbs, the sharpshooting guard found himself at precisely the right angle to use the backboard, with his deep shot slipping cleanly off the backboard and through the net. The victory earned North a big victory in the annual Play 4 Cancer Shootout, with the team aiming to springboard off the win to greater success.Gibbs will be hoping for more of the same results on an individual level, with a dramatic fourth quarter providing a strong springboard for just such a breakout. Gibbs' final 3 capped a 16 point explosion in the final quarter, accounting for a majority of the point guard's 26 points in the game. That Gibbs took over the game in its most crucial moments points to his authority with a contest on the line. If he can continue to achieve as he has, he might even reach a level even higher than where he is projected to land now, though not if Creighton has anything to say about it.Want more on the best stories in high school sports?
