Tragedy has again taken hold of a high school football community. This time it's Tipton, Mo., that finds itself struggling with the grief of losing a favorite son too soon.
As reported by the Associated Press, among other outlets, Tipton (Mo.) High junior football player Chad Stover died on Thursday, two weeks after he collapsed on the field during a game against Sacred Heart School (Sedalia, Mo.) on Halloween. While no specifics about Stover’s injuries have been provided, officials have acknowledged that the teen had suffered a brain injury when he was treated at University Hospital in Columbia, Mo.
There has been no word on what caused Stover’s injury since the incident, but the Missouri State High School Activities Association said it would review how the teen's injury was dealt with by staff at Sacred Heart.
Meanwhile Scott Jarvis, the superintendent of the Tipton School District, said that Tipton was already sorely missed on campus in Tipton.
If you wanted to pick a kid to be your son, that'd be the one you'd pick," Jarvis said.
