In January, Prep Rally brought you the story of K.J. Farfan, the 6-year-old basketball "phenom" who spends nearly all of his time training to be excellent at basketball or traveling around Florida to play the sport. Admittedly, his efforts have been remarkably successful for a 6-year-old.
Well, now Farfan has officially hit the big time. After previous exposes about his stunning skills on local news channels -- he lives in Miami -- and Telemundo, among other outlets, Farfan landed a prime appearance on "Regis and Kelly Live," during which he was shown playing one-on-one against Knicks star Amar'e Stoudemire.
The segment was filmed as part of "Regis and Kelly Live's" "Amazing Kids" weekly segment, during which host Regis Philbin clowned around with the kindergartner and let him beat him in a game of one-on-one to five (or, quite possibly, Philbin really was that bad), then brought in Stoudemire as a surprise one-on-one opponent.
It was a cute quickie segment before Farfan was brought in to the studio to offer up the monosyllabic responses to banal questions from both Philbin and Kelly Ripa that you could expect from any 6-year-old. Then, after hitting a couple buckets, Farfan was sent on his way.
Whether this is the last time we see Farfan on national TV remains to be seen, though his current level of national exposure makes that seem doubtful, for better and worse.
