So in an attempt to inject a bit more life and interest into these early season tournaments, and because we're both inveterate gamblers who are one bad card from being out on the streets, Jay Busbee and I are playing a golf version of a football suicide pool: We each pick one golfer per tournament and see how they do against each other, straight up. And when we burn a golfer, he's done. Follow with us as we place bets on the Tiger show at the Farmers Insurance Open ...
Bacon: When you're in a slump, the one thing that is sure to break you out is the snake shaker, that's why I'm going with Ben Crane this week. He won this event a year ago, he finished tied for 21st in his only event this year, and, frankly, I kind of love the guy.
Busbee: Might as well strike when the iron's hot, right? Bill Haas is one of those "wouldn't know him if he was bagging your groceries" guys, but he's quietly turning into an early season monster. He carded a 62 on Saturday at the Hope; granted, that's not like carding a 62 at Bethpage, but still. Guy's feeling it and he's already locked in a groove in 2011, which is a lot more than some bigger names can say.
Overall record: Busbee 3, Bacon 0.
