Clip n' save this blog post, friends: when Patrick Cantlay becomes the greatest golfer ever to play the game, you can point to this as his very first shot as a pro, off the 10th hole at the Travelers Championship. According to ShotTracker, he put it 300 yards and into the fairway. Well done, PC.
He would go on to par his first hole, but then ... trouble! He double-bogeyed the next two holes and would end up +5 for the round. Yeah ... not so good.
Anyway, Cantlay turned pro as the No. 1 amateur in the world. He was the low amateur at the 2011 U.S. Open and the 2012 Masters. He also decided it was time to turn pro seeing as how he made the top 25 in all five of his PGA Tour starts in 2011. In sponsorship news, he signed with Travis Mathew apparel, joining Bubba Watson and Branden Grace in their stable. Good luck, mate.
