Our Friday equipment roundup: adidas gripmore, Scotty Cameron and a summer headcover

If there is one thing golfers love to do, it's tinker with new equipment. We are always looking for the latest driver, hottest putter and best pair of shoes to help us go low. Each Friday for the rest of the year we will be bringing you five items that we've enjoyed messing around with, no matter if it's equipment, apparel or just something random that we thought you'd enjoy. Here we go!

Callaway X2 Hot Pro Fairway Wood

While Callaway is proudly boasting the technology, and success, of their Big Bertha line, the X2 Hot sits quietly in the corner pleasing golfer after golfer that takes a chance with it. The X2 Hot Pro fairway wood (I have the 3-wood) is a great combination of the trending deep face fairway wood and the easy workability of a Callaway product. I've enjoyed batting this thing around, and almost feel at times that I don't even need to carry a driver when bringing this thing to the course (what up, Phil Mickelson!). www.callawaygolf.com, $229

Titleist Scotty Cameron Futura X Dual Balance Putter

You know if you have a Scott Cameron in your hand you'll be confident on the greens, but messing around with my first ever dual balance Scotty was more fun than I would have thought. The weight allows you to keep more putts on the line you want, which is basically a fancy way of saying you'll be stronger from eight-feet and in with a putter like this one. The Futura X is the definition of stable, and should definitely get a look if you're at your local pro shop in need of something to get the ball in the hole at a faster clip. www.titleist.com, $425

adidas gripmore golf shoes

We all know that golf shoes have moved from stability to comfort, but what if you could have both in one shoe? That's what the adidas gripmore has set out to do, allowing the golfer a shoe that doesn't contain those heavy spikes, but can still give you grip on any surface. The shoes look great, but it's the ability to feel the turf throughout the shoe that makes these things special. www.taylormadegolf.com

Seamus Golf Hiwahiwa Headcover

Summer is just around the corner, so why not add a headcover that makes you feel like slipping away to the beaches of Hawaii? That's what the fine folks at Seamus have done with this gem, and it's a fun addition to any golf bag that could use a little spice. www.seamusgolf.com, $39

Ping Karsten TR Putter

Don't be fooled by the beautiful copper finish, because this putter is way more than just a pretty face. The Karsten TR brings in the "true roll" technology, meaning that mis-hit putts can still get on the right line thanks to the Variable-depth grooves that cover the face of this beauty. You can get this putter in standard length, or get the adjustable version (USGA legal) that allows you to change the length of your own putter if you want it shorter or longer. www.pinggolf.com
