The HSBC Champions is shaping up to be the leaderboard of the year

Any World Golf Championship is going to have a lot of talent, we get that, but there are few times when most of the BIGGEST names decide to all play well during the same week.

After two rounds in China, at the HSBC Champions, it appears that the weekend might give us some of the best golf viewing of the year.

Look at the facts:

-- Golf is being shown live at night, which means you have the option of sitting on your couch after finishing whatever is going on during the day and catching the entire telecast of the event.

-- Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson are both playing well enough to matter, with each sitting a 4-under, five shots back of leader Francesco Molinari.

-- A week after Lee Westwood took over the No. 1 ranking in the world, he will be in the final group of a big event on Saturday. Westwood is 8-under, just a shot back of Molinari and in a prime position to solidify the claim that he's the top golfer in the world.

-- Some guys you expect to be great, but haven't lately, are in the mix, with Ernie Els, Padraig Harrington and Ian Poulter all within earshot of the leaders.

Obviously golf is off most sports fans' radar, but when the likes of Tiger, Phil, Ernie and Lee start creeping up leaderboards, we have to take notice.

Hopefully the stars can continue to play well over the weekend and give us some drama on Sunday night that doesn't involve the Dallas Cowboys.
