If Davis Love III loves one thing, it's Harbour Town

I truly believe that when Davis Love III is 80 years old, barely able to take the club back without the assistance of a caddie or a grandkid or a walker, he will arrive at Harbour Town and, for whatever reason, make that sweet swing once more.

If there is a golf course and a golfer made for each other, it is this week's venue and Love. Love III has won at Harbour Town five times, in three different decades, with his first win coming all the way back in 1987.

On Thursday, at that same old course, Love did it again, shooting a 4-under 67 to put himself three shots back of leader K.J. Choi and again in the hunt of a tournament he loves.

Should we be surprised by his early play this week? Of course. Love has played in seven tournaments this year and made only two cuts (Interestingly enough, both those finishes were top-15). He didn't get in the Masters. He hasn't had a win since 2008.

But here? Here, Love is a different man. Since his win in '87, Love has only missed the cut three times, and has finished nine-under or better nine times.

Love said after his round on Thursday, "It's a comfortable feeling. It's a great place to play. As our group was all saying today, I wish we could play a golf course like this every week."

To say he might win this thing could be a stretch for most, but with Love on the beautiful South Carolina links, it is far from out of the question.
