Brandt Snedeker: Two minutes late, two strokes lost

JOHNS CREEK, Ga. - See, this is why you set a second alarm.

Brandt Snedeker, seen above in a mad dash for the first tee, was exactly two minutes and fifteen seconds late for his 8:10 a.m. tee time Friday morning at the Atlanta Athletic Club, and as a result got dinged for a two-stroke penalty.

And it could end up being a costly penalty indeed. Snedeker was at +4 after the first round; the two-stroke penalty plus a bogey on the first hole put him at +7. Through his first nine, he held that same score. The cut at the PGA Championship cut line is top 70 plus ties, and that line is expected to be in the +3 range. Making up that kind of ground in just nine holes is going to be tough indeed for Snedeker.

No word on why he was late, and as you can imagine, he's probably not in much of a talkative mood on the course right now.
