After shaky start, Martin Kaymer throws a dart on the par-5 5th to set up an eagle

It has been a different Pinehurst this Saturday than we saw the first two days. The greens are firm and fast, the pins are tucked and birdies are few and far between.

Martin Kaymer realized all this early in his round, with a bogey on No. 1 and another on the fourth after having to take a drop because of an unplayable lie from an errant tee shot. The wheels looked like they were starting to loosen, and after another bad tee shot on No. 5, it was Kaymer who pulled off the shot of the tournament so far from our leader.

Kaymer's second shot out of a questionable lie landed perfectly, rolled up to just a few feet and Kaymer knocked that one in for the unexpected eagle and a huge comeback from our leader.

It won't get any easier for the players on their way in at Pinehurst, but at least Kaymer was able to erase both the blemishes on his scorecard with one incredible recovery shot to set up that eagle.
