The user’s guide to two-start pitchers, Week 9

Hey, remember a couple weeks ago when Chris Sale was named the White Sox closer, because he was ambiguously injured (but not so injured that he couldn't pitch the late innings...and, when you got right down to it, he was really more "tender" than injured)?

Yeah, that awesome. We all shared a great laugh. Good times.

Despite being slandered and mismanaged by his coaches, Sale has really been a spectacular pitcher over his first 50.1 innings this season. The lefty hasn't allowed more than three runs (earned or unearned) in any of his eight appearances. He's delivered a 1.05 WHIP, 2.50 ERA and 8.23 K/9, winning five games and losing two. Sale ranks No. 15 among all starting pitchers in year-to-date fantasy value, with a pair of friendly-ish starts upcoming in Week 9 (at TB, SEA).

Use him while you can, gamers, before Robin Ventura decides to try him as a right-handed long reliever. You'll find Sale near the top of this week's batch of two-start pitchers. Make the jump for ranks and tiers...
