Target Practice, Week 3: Austin Collie refuses to fade

It's a bit of an overstatement to say that Austin Collie(notes) catches everything, but not by much. Through three weeks, he's caught 84 percent of everything. Collie has been targeted 32 times, the sixth-highest total in the NFL, and he has a league-leading 27 receptions. Collie also tops the league in receiving yards (359) and he's tied for the lead in touchdowns (4). This guy was a final-round selection in many fantasy leagues and a waiver add in others, but he's now the top scorer at his position in nearly all formats. His Mock Draft Central ADP was 190.8.

Perhaps there's a sell-high argument to be made, but I really have no interest in making it. There's never a good time to unload Colts, not unless it's late in the season and the team has clinched everything worth clinching. Over the next three weeks, Indianapolis will face Jacksonville, Kansas City and Washington. Those teams currently rank 29th, 21st, and 31st in the league in pass defense.

Right now, Collie's situation is ideal. He's never going to be the top priority for an opponent, yet he has Peyton Manning's(notes) full confidence, thanks to receptions like this and this and this. Collie has finally cracked the Big Board — no small achievement, probably triggers a contract bonus — and he's become a fixture on the target leaderboard, too. This guy has nine TDs over his last 11 games, playoffs included. Woe unto those who face him when he faces the Jags.
