Rice was the intended receiver on 10 of Brett Favre's(notes) 38 boyish gunslings in Week 11. Sure, he may have hauled in just three catches for 56 yards, but there were near-misses that should have resulted in big gains.
The point is, Rice is back — and he's apparently feeling OK. Details here via the Star Tribune:
"Felt great," Rice said. "I wasn't expecting to get that many plays, but Bernard went down. I ended up playing the whole game, and I didn't have any problems."
"I got tackled a couple of times, fell to the ground a couple of times," Rice said. "I didn't have any pain."
Timing with his quarterback was clearly an issue (as is the current talent-level of his quarterback). But we're talking about a guy who finished with 83 receptions and 1,312 yards a year ago, and he's still available in a significant percentage of Yahoo! leagues (63 percent owned). Rice and Favre have terrific match-ups over the next two weeks (at WAS, vs. BUF), so they clearly have a chance to get right.
This clearly won't be the last time you'll see Sidney's name on the refreshingly minty target leader board…
