The Chicago Tribune and Sun-Times are both reporting that Kerry Wood is likely headed to the disabled list, due to a blister on his right index finger. The Cubs' closer should be eligible to return on Sunday, July 27.
If we'd started a Wood-to-the-DL pool back in February, you'd have probably picked "April 24" and "shoulder." Blister issues can linger, but this is clearly not (yet) the disastrous injury many of us had feared (and continue to fear).
Marmol is the add, if he's available in your league. Here's the Trib:
Carlos Marmol will assume the closer's role in Arizona and for most of the four-game series against the Marlins.
