On Thursday night, for the third time in three preseason games, Bengals receiver Chris Henry caught a touchdown pass. Highlight here at the 0:24 mark. He shook Rams rookie corner Bradley Fletcher(notes) with ridiculous ease.
After three contests that don't matter, Henry has 13 catches for 213 yards. Wherever you've ranked him, it's probably too low.
Henry is entering a contract year, so perhaps it's not a huge surprise that he's rededicated himself to his craft. We all know that he's allegedly strayed from the path of righteousness from time to time. To time. To time. To time. Henry's talent has never been in doubt, however. He had 15 receiving touchdowns in his first two NFL seasons and he's only 26 years old.
Henry isn't at the top of Cincinnati's wide receiver hierarchy, of course. Chad Ochocinco(notes) and Laveranues Coles(notes) both deserve to rank ahead of him. He's a decent bet to lead the team in TD catches, though, and the Bengals will need to throw early and often. They've somehow managed to pair the worst run-blocking line in the NFL with the league's least explosive running back. With Carson Palmer(notes) at the controls, Cincinnati is clearly capable of producing three useful fantasy receivers.
Henry's Mock Draft Central ADP is just 149.7 right now, so there's no risk involved in the pick. If he remains both healthy and incident-free, '09 should be a career year. If he does not remain healthy and incident-free, the '09 season could be his last.
