Brett Favre might screw up your Joe Webb gambit

No one wants more Brett Favre(notes) drama to go with their holiday week, but it looks like we have some.

Favre's been upgraded to questionable for Monday's game against Chicago, a stunning development given that he was tagged as "out" prior to the adjustment. Basically the Vikings are telling us that Favre is no longer dead; this is like one of those cheesy horror films where you can't kill off the bad guy. Favre will do some throwing a couple of hours before game-time, and then a decision will be made.

If you need Sidney Rice(notes), Percy Harvin(notes) or Visanthe Shiancoe(notes) to do something tonight, you want to see Favre on the field. For all of Favre's flaws at this juncture of his career, he probably gives the Minnesota offense a better chance to do something downfield than Joe Webb(notes) does. And Favre certainly knows how to break down the Cover 2 that Chicago spends most of its time playing.

A Favre return would be a cruel hit for the Webb fake-WR crowd. This possible curveball underscores the need to have a late-game caddy when players are tied to uncertain statuses; hopefully you have someone tucked aside for the Monday game just in case. Alas, in some situations that probably wasn't possible. Check in around 8 pm eastern if you've got lineup flexibility.

Now it's time for freestyle comments. Bitch about Favre, worry about Webb, talk about what you need tonight to bail out a victory, wax poetic about outdoors football returning to Minnesota. What's on your mind, gamer?
