Alert! Knowshon Moreno injured, ruled out against Colts

We don't have all the details here just yet, but according to multiple reports, Denver running back Knowshon Moreno(notes) won't face Indianapolis this weekend. He suffered an unknown injury of unknown severity in practice. Here's the early word from the Denver Post:

More tough injury news for the Broncos - starting running back Knowshon Moreno suffered an injury during practice Thursday and has been ruled out for the game Sunday against Indianapolis.

Broncos coach Josh McDaniels said Laurence Maroney(notes), Correll Buckhalter(notes) and Andre Brown(notes) would be his running backs.

McDaniels hasn't yet offered specifics, so we can't say if this is an aggravation of Moreno's earlier hamstring injury. Whatever it is, it's bad enough to land him on the sideline for a game where his services are desperately needed.

Buckhalter gained just 19 yards on 11 carries in Week 2 against Seattle, though he did reach the end zone on a short-yardage score. He's actually available in more Yahoo! leagues than Maroney at the moment (six percent versus 31). You'll recall that the Colts defense was destroyed in the trenches back in Week 1, when Arian Foster(notes) ran wild, so this isn't exactly an unfriendly match-up. If you're a Moreno owner, you need to take evasive action, quickly.

For just a second there, I thought I was gonna be quick enough to add Maroney in the Friends & Family Leauge. But alas, I got 177'd…

Gehlken is a weasel. Don't let anyone tell you different.

Update: Jay Glazer tweets the following: "I'm hearing Broncos RB K Moreno pulled hamstring again in today's practice. Bad enough for him to be out this week and possibly next." Later, Glazer added that Moreno injured a new hamstring this time, not the same one he strained back in August.
