Nike made sneakers paying tribute to Bo Jackson's broken bats, they're awesome

Bo Jackson breaking his bat over his knee is a classic moment that fans of that era of baseball surely know. It's so classic that Nike made a new sneaker commemorating it.

The Air Trainer SC "Broken Bats" — released Friday in limited quantities — is a new twist on the Nike's long-popular Bo Jackson shoe. The coolest thing about these? An 8-bit Bo Jackson on the tongue breaking his bat and looking like he's straight out of a 1980s video game. Drool at some of the details:

The Kansas City Royals colorway ought to appeal to Royals fans, but shouldn't limit the appeal of these. Let's face it — how often do we see sneakers paying tribute to baseball? Not a lot. Not like basketball. The Royals own sneakerholic Jeremy Guthrie will probably be wearing a pair in no time. He showed off some classic Bos a couple weeks ago on Instagram.

The "Broken Bats" retail for $130. Act quick if you want a pair, as they won't be around long. Most of the popular online retailers are already out or didn't stock them. Check your local sneaker shops.
