Whether he's setting the woods on fire by accident, lauding fans for the deer they've killed, or rescuing a stranded fellow ballplayer in a freak Atlanta snowstorm, Chipper Jones obviously knows his way around nature.

In the midst of a storm that dropped about 3 inches of snow on metro Atlanta on Tuesday, Jones hopped aboard his four-wheeler and ventured where few others could go: Straight into the winter wonderland. Somewhere among the stranded, in a nearby lot, slugger Freddie Freeman had parked his car after finding himself in traffic for hours, he said, unable to get home by conventional means. Freeman already had been one of the lucky ones; the nearly unprecedented snowfall had paralyzed the area, stranding motorists in their cars and even children on school buses. Unable to get anywhere on the roads, some people even resorted to camping for the night at Home Depot.

That amount of snow isn't much if you live in Chicago or Denver — it was even pretty at Turner Field — but it's overwhelming on transportation systems in the South, and it's been a scary past few hours. But Freeman wouldn't be forced to stay with his vehicle or find an impromptu hostel. Not with Jones riding to the rescue.

Jones and Freeman (along with Jones' girlfriend) told the story on Twitter, and it was riveting, if also fun:

Chipper's girlfriend, Taylor Higgins, chimed in:

Jones retired from the Braves after the 2012 season, but he obviously knows how to stay busy. Already a master of fire and snow, what will Jones do next when the earthquakes and typhoons come to the ATL?
