If at first you don't succeed in spelling Jeff "Samardzija" correctly, some fans of the Oakland Athletics figure, then try, try again. Four times, anyway. And then just go with "Shark," his nickname.

The A's already had welcomed their recent major addition a day earlier, and Samardzija pitched for the first time with his new team Sunday afternoon at the O.co Coliseum, getting off to a strong start against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Not only is Samardzija's stuff tough to hit, but his last name is among the tougher to spell in the majors. Fans at the Coliseum gave it a shot, trying:
