The covering Giants gave us a winning start to the week, hopefully kick-starting some momentum. Here are the other four selections.
Redskins +5.5 at Cowboys: Like being on a rested team here, and love taking the points in a divisional game - especially with Dallas's poor history as a favorite in Jerry World.
Buccaneers +1 vs. Eagles: The Bucs have had time to get settled in with their rookie quarterback, and there's nothing wrong with Tampa's defense. Chip Kelly's moment in the sun didn't seem to last very long, did it?
Vikings -2.5 vs Panthers: Cam Newton is 2-14 in one-score games since joining the NFL (hat tip, R.J. Bell) - just keep the game close and the Panthers usually find a way to lose. Minnesota is rested and finally has a competent quarterback in place. That's enough.
Browns +2.5 vs. Lions: Not sure yet if Detroit will be with or without Calvin Johnson (ETA: he's in uniform), but even if he's on the field we know he's not 100 percent. Cleveland's a junkyard dog at home, nasty defense and difficult environment for visitors. Do you trust Matthew Stafford, with or without Calvin Johnson? Have you seen the leaky Detroit rushing defense lately?
