Blazers give second interviews to Mike D'Antoni, Becky Hammon, Chauncey Billups originally appeared on NBC Sports Northwest

The Trail Blazers head coaching search is heating up, as they’ll reportedly interview Brooklyn Nets assistant coach Mike D’Antoni for a second time, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The team interviewed Spurs assistant Becky Hammon a second time on Monday and will do the same with Clippers assistant coach Chauncey Billups later this week.

All three candidates seem to be interesting choices for the team.

D’Antoni is the more well-known of the trio for his past coaching experience with the Suns, Knicks, Lakers, and Rockets. Although he has name recognition, what he would bring to the team is unclear. He’s labeled as an offensive-minded coach and the Blazers are a team that needs help defensively.

Hammon is the first woman to be named a finalist in a head coaching search and having spent the past seven seasons with the Spurs, is as qualified as any man for a head coaching job. Especially since she’s a former player in the WNBA as well.

As for Billups, he’s been viewed as the lead candidate the whole time. Damian Lillard has gone on the record voicing his support for the 17-year NBA veteran.

Billups has also interviewed for the Celtics head coaching vacancy, a team he started his career with.
