Blazers announce 2021-'22 regular-season schedule; start season Oct. 20 vs. SAC originally appeared on NBC Sports Northwest

It’s that time of year again for the NBA schedule to be released, followed by fans and players pointing out key games and matchups throughout the season.

It’s the cycle that keeps on giving.

As the Blazers prepare for an interesting 2021-’22 season regarding speculation on the future of Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum, coupled with how Chauncey Billups will perform in his first season as head coach, it’s time to delve into their notable games.

Oct. 20 vs. SAC: It’ll be their season and home opener against the Kings, who are looking to end their almost two-decade-long playoff drought.

Nov. 6, Feb. 9 vs. LAL: The Lakers and their trio of LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook will be making two appearances in Rip City this upcoming season.

Nov. 14 vs. DEN: After losing their first-round series to the Nuggets a season ago, the Blazers will face-off against them in the early stages of the season.

Dec. 23 vs. BKN: With no Christmas game this season, the closest the Blazers will get to it is a home game against the eastern conference contenders in the Nets. Playing Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving before presents officially open is an early gift for Blazer fans.

Feb. 5 vs. MIL: The defending champion Milwaukee Bucks make their lone appearance in Portland just a week or so before the All-Star break.

Feb. 24 vs. GSW: Whenever the Warriors come to town it’s always a big night. Whether it’s because of Stephen Curry vs. Lillard, or because of some wild games the teams have had over recent history.

Apr. 10 vs. UTH: The team will end their regular-season at home against the Jazz.

Road Trippin': The team’s longest road trip of the season is a six-game stretch from Jan. 13-23. Their opponents include the Nuggets (Jan. 13), Wizards (Jan. 15), Magic on MLK Day (Jan. 17), Heat (Jan. 19), Celtics (Jan. 21), Raptors (Jan. 23). This trip could be difficult for the team as they'll be all over the country and in a different country in just over a week.

Travel: The team will fly a league-high 51,000 miles this upcoming season.

With the team traveling a ton this season, they'll be slated to have six road trips spanning at least four games. Three of the trips are at least six, and their longest will be six.

Post All-Star break will see the team on the road for 25 of their 41 games, although they finish the season with nine of their 11 games coming against teams not in the playoffs a season ago.

The team will play four of their five games at home, and 25 of their first 41 games will be at Moda Center. Their longest home stands come in the second half of the season in five-game stints -- Feb. 4-12, Mar. 23-30.
