Blackpink becomes the first Asian girl group to be featured on Rolling Stone cover

Korean girl group Blackpink has officially made history as the first all-Asian female group to be featured on the cover of Rolling Stone.

The news, which was teased as a huge Blackpink x Rolling Stone project over the weekend, was announced via Twitter at 5 a.m. PDT and 8 a.m. EDT on Monday.

[Blackpink] is Rolling Stone’s June cover star,” the magazine tweeted. “The world's biggest girl group give their most revealing interview yet about how they make music, deal with the demands of stardom, became family, and more.”

The magazine is set to celebrate Blackpink x Rolling Stone “all week long with digital covers, exclusive interviews, and more.”

In addition to officially becoming the first all-Asian female group to be featured on a Rolling Stone cover, the four-member group – consisting of Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé – became the third all-female band to grace the magazine’s cover after the Spice Girls and Destiny's Child.

As a surprise bonus, Rolling Stone is also hawking a collector’s edition box set featuring Blackpink for $129. The box set includes special items such as a 44-page zine with an alternate group cover, a sticker sheet and four Blackpink prints shot by photographer Peter Ash Lee exclusively for Rolling Stone.
