Blackhawks trade Janmark to Vegas in three-way deal originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

The Blackhawks made a three-way trade with San Jose and Vegas ahead of Monday's deadline, shipping Mattias Janmark and a fifth-round draft pick in 2022 to the Golden Knights in exchange for a second-round pick in 2021 and third-round selection in 2022. The Golden Knights also received defenseman Nick DeSimone from the San Jose Sharks, who received a fifth-round pick in 2022 for brokering the deal.

The Blackhawks also retained 50 percent of Janmark's salary.

Janmark registered 19 points (10 goals, nine assists) in 41 games for the Blackhawks this season and would be on pace to set a career-high in goals (20) and points (38) in a typical 82-game campaign.  He signed a one-year, $2.25 million deal in the offseason and could theoretically re-sign in Chicago over the summer if both sides are interested in a reunion.

But with the team falling out of the No. 4 spot in the Central Division, the Blackhawks felt they needed to get something in return for Janmark and keep the big-picture focus in mind by collecting future assets.

The Blackhawks now have two second-round picks in the 2021 NHL Draft and two third-rounders in 2022.
