On Tuesday, the Blackhawks announced the signing of forward Cam Morrison to a two-year contract through the 2021-22 season with an average annual value of $925,000.
Morrison - 21 and a native of Aurora, Ontario - is coming off a senior year at Notre Dame in which he had a career-high 27 points (13 goals, 14 assists). His 13 goals and +/- rating of +10 last season for the Fighting Irish led the team and were personal bests as well.
In four years at Notre Dame, the forward recorded 95 points (44 goals, 51 assists) in 149 games, picking up at least 20 points every season.
Morrison was named to the Big Ten's All-Tournament Team and the NCAA Northeast Regional All-Tournament Team as a junior.
He was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche at No. 40 overall (second round) in the 2016 NHL Draft. He also competed with Team Canada at the IIHF U-18 World Championship in 2016, grabbing four points (1G, 3A) in seven contests.
