Bishop Stang hires new girls lacrosse head coach for spring 2022

Bishop Stang has a new girls lacrosse coach.

The school announced the hiring of Alison Caito-Galligan on Friday. She takes over for Lauren Pratt, who was the head coach for six years.

“We are thrilled to have Alison lead us this spring and moving forward in our girls lacrosse program," said Bishop Stang athletic director Dennis Golden. "The game of lacrosse is important to her, but most importantly, she uses coaching as a vehicle to positively affect the lives of young people.”

Caito-Galligan arrives at Bishop Stang having a world of athletic and coaching experience.

She is a former Boston University field hockey All-American and Hall of Fame Athlete.

Professionally, she has been a longtime guidance counselor at Dartmouth Middle School, and her care and concern for young people are evident in all that she does.

Caito-Galligan earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Boston University (1988) and her Master’s at the University of La Verne (1992). She has been both the varsity field hockey coach (2003-2008) and the varsity girls lacrosse coach (2001-2008) at Dartmouth High School.

“I want to continue with what coach Lauren Pratt started, both in terms of building skill and building confidence in the players," Caito-Galligan said. "We will compete on and off the field. Most importantly, we are developing young people. We are looking to develop core values in young people. We want to handle all game situations with grace and with respect, regardless of outcome. Coaching for me goes well beyond the record. As a counselor and educator, I feel I have the tools to help build character, nurture their faith, and inspire the desire to make a difference.

"I truly have a passion for the game, but more importantly, I have a passion to support the mission of Bishop Stang High School.”

The Spartans are coming off a rebuilding year in 2021 where none of its players had any varsity experience.
