Bills quarterback A.J. McCarron reportedly suffered broken collarbone in preseason game against Browns
Buffalo Bills quarterback A.J. McCarron suffered a hairline fracture in his collarbone in their preseason game against the Cleveland Browns on Friday night, according to Vic Carucci of the Buffalo News.

McCarron started on Friday night for the Bills, and went 3-of-6 for 12 yards in the first quarter. According to Carucci, it’s believed that McCarron sustained the fracture when he was hit hard from behind by Browns defensive end Myles Garrett. McCarron played the entire first quarter, completing four drives, though he failed to earn a first down.
“All I really know right now is that he hurt his right shoulder,” Bills coach Sean McDermott said. “He’ll have some more tests when we get back.”
The injury likely paves the way for rookie Josh Allen — who was drafted No. 7 overall in April — to start for the Bills in Week 1.
In their preseason opener against the Carolina Panthers last week, Allen went 9-of-19 for 116 yards and threw one touchdown. He went 9-of-13 for 60 yards and had one touchdown on Friday night, playing the entire second quarter and one drive in the third.
Nathan Peterman, who is also competing for the starting quarterback job in Buffalo, started twice for the Bills last season, where he went 24-of-49 for 252 yards and had two touchdowns. Peterman went 9-of-10 for 118 yards and had one touchdown and one interception in their preseason game against the Panthers.
