Bills postgame reactions to AFC East title: ‘An unexplainable feeling’

After the Buffalo Bills won the AFC East title on Saturday against the Denver Broncos, it was difficult for many players to find the right words.

Some just described the mood as indescribable, while some Buffalo (11-3) players took the big-picture approach.

Here’s a rundown of how some in the Bills’ locker room reacted to the AFC East title following their 48-19 win over the Broncs (5-9) in Week 15:

Sean McDermott

“I’m just so thankful. And again, it’s not just one person. I’m just… so thankful. I’m so happy for the fans, honestly. I’m just so happy for the fans. It’s just such a cool place to be apart of because of the work ethic of the people. The character of the people in Buffalo, around Buffalo, western New York. I love see Bills flags out in people’s yards and I’m hoping there’s a lot more people buying Bills flags tonight. I’m just humble to be apart of it.”

Josh Allen

“It’s great that we’re able to do it for the first time in 25 years. To be the team and to be the quarterback of the team that does it, obviously it feels really good. At the same time, that’s not our main goal. We set out to do this, in order to get a chance to do what we really want to do and win a Super Bowl championship. I know our fans and Bills Mafia is probably going crazy right now. But there’s still a lot on the table. We still have two games left in the regular season that we have to go finish out and put our next foot forward and prepare for a really good New England team next week.”

Dion Dawkins

“I haven’t really caught the feeling yet. It’s… my head is still spinning. I’m very, very excited. In a sense, I’m kind of at a loss for words because… Buffalo has been waiting on this for 25 years. It took my class from getting here, four years. It’s just special. If I could explain it… it’s just an unexplainable feeling and this is really nothing and it’s still a really unexplainable feeling.”

Zack Moss

“I mean, it feels amazing. Being a rookie and experiencing this for the first time. You can’t really put it into words… especially with the way the world is with COVID, just getting to try and play football… just being able to go through all the protocols, all the rules and that, it’s really special.”

Micah Hyde

“Long time coming, finally got it done.”

Cole Beasley

“It’s always a good feeling to be on top of the division, but we still have a goal ahead of us. We’re going to celebrate tonight and then put it behind us and get ready for the next step.”

Jon Feliciano

“Super happy. This is my first time in football winning the division. Man, means a lot.

“It’s been a long time since we won the division title. Man, we know the job’s not done, but this one is definitely for Bills Mafia.”

Jerry Hughes

“Man, it feels amazing. This is something that, you know, we talked back [about] once I got to this organization. We spoke about bringing a division championship home to Buffalo so this is great to be apart of. This team, the way that Sean and Brandon Beane did it, assembled the team together and put guys in the right spots so we can be successful. The results are showing.”

Jordan Poyer

“It’s hard to describe, man. Guys work extremely hard, throughout the offseason, during the season and to get to this point, to get the opportunity to come out here and clinch the AFC East? It’s kind of indescribable. The guys work extremely hard, we’re a family. I think it’s been… I mean, I was four years old the last time the Bills won the AFC East. Huge win for our program, huge win for our city. We’re excited to keep building and move forward.”

Devin Singletary

“It’s major… 25 years, that’s a long time. That’s one of our goals we wanted to reach this year. We reached that, we’re going to enjoy it for about 24 hour and then move on.”
