The Bills handled the Panthers, 31-14, in Week 15.
From there, we saw a bit of a roller coaster on how things went in terms of playoff positioning.
As the 4 p.m. slate across the NFL started to come to a close, the Bills were actually out of the playoffs. The Bengals had beaten the Broncos in their contest which pushed them into the No. 6 seed.
In doing so, the Chargers were pushed down into the No. 7 slot, which is the final Wild Card spot which was previously held by the Bills. Translation: No playoffs.
But a short while later, another 4 p.m. game came to an end. The Ravens lost to the Packers and they more than tumbled.
From first in the AFC North in the No. 4 seed to out of the playoffs.
Thanks to a better record in common opponents, the Bills then moved back up into the seventh and final playoff spot over the Ravens.
Here is the full AFC playoff tree as things currently stand:
Kansas City Chiefs (10-4)
New England Patriots (9-5)
Tennessee Titans (9-5)
Cincinnati Bengals (8-6)
Indianapolis Colts (8-6)
Los Angeles Chargers (8-6)
Buffalo Bills (8-6)
Baltimore Ravens (8-6)
Cleveland Browns (7-6)
Pittsburgh Steelers (7-6-1)
Miami Dolphins (7-7)
Denver Broncos (7-7)
Las Vegas Raiders (6-7)
** 1-4 seeds are all division leaders.
