Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen had slowly risen back into the NFL MVP discussion as the 2020 regular season wore on.

After his first four games, Allen, 24, was near the top of that list, but then tailed off. Then he ended up pushing back into the conversation, so much so that he’s now slated with the second-best odds to grab the hardware.

Following the conclusion of the regular season, Bovada updated its MVP odds and Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is the big favorite at -2000. However, Allen’s now at +900, which now puts him ahead of Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes at +1600.

Previously, it was a two-dog race between Rodgers and Mahomes. Between the three, only Mahomes’ team decided to rest him for their season finale, causing his odds to slip.

Here are Bovada’s full odds for NFL MVP released on Monday:

Allen finished the regular season with 4,544 passing yards, fifth-most in the league, above Rodgers’ 4,299. However, Rodgers led the NFL with an impressive 48 passing touchdowns in 2020.

The biggest case for Allen over Rodgers is his touchdown percentage. Allen accounted for 82.7 percent of the Bills’ scores this past season. Rodgers slides in at 77 percent.

The NFL Honors award show is slated for Feb. 6.
