Bills’ Cole Beasley, Gabriel Davis in NFL COVID-19 protocol

Buffalo Bills players Cole Beasley and Gabriel Davis have been put into the league’s COVID-19 protocol for being close contacts of a member of the team’s training staff who tested positive for the virus.

Beasley and Davis took COVID-19 tests Tuesday morning, which came back negative, but they been removed from the Bills facility. The two must also undergo a five day re-entry process as part of the league’s health and safety guidelines.

This underscores two sides of the coin. Vaccinated players who are revealed as close contacts of individuals who do test positive for COVID-19 do not have to be out for the five days. But vaccinated players or staff members can also still test positive for the virus, which can contribute to an outbreak or spread in a building, which could compromise a game
