Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll has been a hot candidate early on during the current head coaching hiring cycle.

The first two teams that reportedly reached out to Daboll were the Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins. Then strong connections to the New York Giants surfaced.

Those only heightened when Buffalo assistant general manager Joe Schoen was hired by the Giants as their GM and he quickly brought in Daboll for two interviews.

Now things are cycling back toward South Beach.

According to the New York Daily News, there is a belief that Daboll is “the favorite” to be the Dolphins’ next head coach. Not the Giants:

Daboll was originally connected to the Dolphins in early January. The NYDN report references Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as someone also connected to the job in New York.

Additionally, Dolphins Wire reports that Quinn is also a finalist for the vacant gig in Miami. As of now, it appears that Quinn and Daboll are two of the top candidates for a few head coach openings in the NFL.

Another to watch in Buffalo defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier. He’s slated to have a second interview with the Giants on Friday. Per the NYDN, after Frazier’s second go, New York will look to make a hiring soon after.

On both Daboll and Frazier, the clear preference would be for either to be hired by the Giants or even Bears with the Dolphins being an AFC rival of Buffalo. Both Daboll and Frazier had reported interest to a certain degree from all three teams in the Giants, Dolphins and Bears.

Stay tuned to Bills Wire throughout the winter as we will provide all updates regarding Buffalo assistants and front-office members that are connected to other NFL teams.
