BIG3 3-on-3 basketball league coming to FedExForum in summer 2023

The BIG3 summer basketball league will be returning to arenas this summer for its sixth season, and one of its stops will be Memphis.

Per a news release Wednesday, FedExForum will be one of eight stops for the league, which features former NBA professionals in 3-on-3 basketball games. The league will tip off June 25 in Chicago and will begin its playoffs on Aug. 19 after a 10-week season.

Memphis was set to be the first site for the league in 2020 before those plans were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The past two seasons, the BIG3 operated in a bubble format with limited touring.

“After two years of a semi-touring model, we are finally able to safely return to cities nationwide and bring the BIG3 back to the size of arenas where our fans want us the most,” said Ice Cube, BIG3 CEO and co-founder, in the release. “We have tremendous momentum going into the sixth season, coming off of record ratings and numerous sold-out games. We’ve been making moves this offseason – getting certified by ByBlack, renewing with CBS, and recruiting and signing all-star players – to put together the best season yet and we can’t wait to show these cities what the BIG3 is all about.”

The league also will make stops in Charlotte, Dallas, Detroit, Miami, New York and Washington D.C. All of its games will be featured on CBS or Paramount+ with broadcast details to be announced in the coming weeks, along with rosters and ticket information.
