Congratulations are in order for Big Brother star Kate Lawler, who is expecting her first child.

The Virgin Radio Drive-time presenter and her fiancé, Martin, are due to welcome their baby in February.

Kate, who was crowned winner of series 3 of the reality TV show, said she'd often felt pressured to have a baby, but now she feels it's the perfect time to expand their family, especially since their wedding was postponed due to COVID-19.

"This was completely planned," Kate told HELLO!. "The wedding got cancelled and I wasn't thinking about a baby at all. But when we rebooked it for the following year, a few of our friends and family said we could have a baby between now and then. I laughed.

"But then I turned 40 in May and suddenly I felt grown up and like I was ready for something and I didn't know what it was.

"We realised we would have to start trying straight away to avoid having a newborn at the wedding. So we did. We gave it one shot. And it happened!"

Kate said she was surprised to have fallen pregnant so quickly as doctors had advised her that her egg-count was very low and could make it difficult to conceive naturally.

"I knew the decision would be taken out of my hands eventually as I didn't have many eggs left, and I felt sad at the thought of not being able to conceive if we left it too late so that's when I knew I was ready."

Dad to be, Martin, was really shocked by the pregnancy: "It didn't feel real because it was something I have wanted for so long and she always told me it wasn't going to happen. I was very happy, but also kind of blown away."
